Water Park Fun

Last week Di and Jenn took the kids down Past Olympia Washington to a place called Great Wolf Lodge. It's a kid friendly Hotel with a massive indoor waterpark. Josh has been asking to go for about 2 years, but until just recently the closest one was in Niagara Falls. Not a day trip by any means. We didn't tell the kids where we were going, just that we were going to Seattle. When we arrived, they were very excited. It was a lot of fun.

Another great day at the lake

The great thing about having family as our neighbours is that they like to share their toys. Sunday was a great sharing day! We gathered up a lot of family and friends and headed to Maple Bay for an afternoon (after church of course) of water-play.
We brought the barbecue and cooked up some hamburgers and hotdogs right on the beach.
Gabe showed us his hidden talent of wake boarding. Jenn and I were beaming with pride at his skills!
Our friend Cheryl brought her kayak for us to try, I think we may make this purchase one day, it was so relaxing and a great way to snoop at the other boaters setups, sneak up on geese, and cruise Lindell beach's cabins.
Even Ethan gave it a whirl! Thanks Ryan and Sue for a terrific day!!

Canning Day

Today Aunt Sharilyn surprised Jenn with a couple of LARGE buckets of freshly picked strawberries! At our house we usually just eat 'em, but there were so many Jenn decided to can 'em!

When I got home I was super-stoked to see her busy canning! I absolutely LOVE the smells and sounds of canning, something my grandmother did all summer. The memories that come to mind just thrust me back to my childhood summers on the Island...

4 batches later we have 12 cans of strawberry jam - and everyone of them 'popped' and seem to be setting perfectly.
